MTN Releases 2023 Spring Schedule

NORMAN — University of Oklahoma head men's tennis coach Nick Crowell and Vice President and Director of Athletics Joe Castiglione announced the Sooners 2023 spring schedule on Tuesday.
The Sooners are slated to compete in 24 matches, hosting 12 at the Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, Okla. Fifteen of the Sooners matchups feature teams who finished the season in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's rankings.
"We are extremely excited to get started in January at home with three early season matches," said Crowell. "It's always great to see our fans come out and support the team.
OU will kick off the spring season at home, playing Bryant on Jan. 21 and hosting a double-header against UTSA and Montana State on Jan. 22.
The team will hit the road for ITA Kickoff Weekend in Knoxville, Tenn., Jan. 27-28. OU is set to face Charlotte in the first round of competition, while the No. 6 seed Tennessee with face Louisiana. The winners of those matches will face each other Jan. 28 with a trip to the ITA National Men's Team Indoor Championships on the line. Indoor Nationals will take place in Seattle, Wash., Feb. 17-20.
The Sooners will return home for four matches against Drake on Feb. 3, Wichita State and Incarnate Word on Feb. 5 and Memphis on Feb. 10.
OU will then travel to Montgomery, Ala., for the Blue Grey Championships. The field includes Alabama, Arizona, Auburn, Middle Tennessee, Nebraska, Texas Tech and Tulane.
OU's home slate will continue March 3 and 6, hosting Arizona State and Arizona, respectively.
The Sooners will then head west to face Pepperdine and San Diego. The squad will compete against Pepperdine on March 11 in Malibu, Calif., then head to San Diego, Calif., to play San Diego on March 13.
The squad will make a pit stop in College Station, Texas, on their way home to take on Texas A&M before returning to Norman to face Middle Tennessee on March 24 and Tulsa on March 26.
Conference action will kickoff in Fort Worth, Texas, against TCU on March 31. The squad will stay on the road to face Texas in Austin, Texas, on April 2 and Oklahoma State in Stillwater, Okla., on April 6.
Closing out the regular season, the Sooners will host Baylor on April 14 before heading to Lubbock, Texas, to take on Texas Tech on April 16.
The Big 12 Championships will take place at Kansas on April 21-23 in Lawrence, Kan.
NCAA Regionals are set for May 5-7, with the winners advancing to Super Regionals May 12-13. NCAA Championships will take place May 17-27. Locations for all three events will be announced at a later time.
"This year's schedule is one of the toughest in the country, with opportunities around every corner," Crowell said. "It's great to play in our league because you know you're going to get great opportunities every match."
The Sooners' home competition will be open to the public with free admission.
